National Dachshund Races

The National Dashchund Races return in 2016. Proudly sanctioned by the International Wiener Dog Racing Federation (WDRF), these races provide a fun family atmosphere with events for everyone. Watch, laugh, cheer and support several very worthy Dachshund charities. The health and safety of the dogs is first priority!

Racing and EventsBest Nose and Mayors Cup (agility) — are timed and take place all day Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Racing is on the hour and events on the half hour. Events are informal and available with a $1 donation to DRNA.

Large Group Racing Event: Friday at 7 p.m., Saturday at 1 p.m. and Sunday at 1 p.m.

Largest Race at the Expo: Saturday at 1 p.m.

You can participate! Register for a "Single Race/Event" at $5 each or for $25 get the "All Weekend Fun-Day" Race/Event Package and enjoy as many events as you like.

“MONDIO” Demonstration
by U.S. Champs Nick Rempp & His Dog Ike

Army veteran Nick Rempp of Beaver County, who lost his leg to a roadside bomb while serving in Baghdad, paired with his dog, Ike, to win the 2016 U.S. Mondio-Ring Association Nationals. Like most protection sports, Mondioring features a series of dog/handler exercises in three categories: obedience, agility (jumps) and protection. The obedience in Mondioring emphasizes control despite distractions, the jumps test the dog’s structure and willingness, and the protection phase requires the dog to demonstrate tremendous control.

Allegheny Mountain Rescue Group
Search & Recovery Demonstrations

Allegheny Mountain Rescue Group (AMRG) provides the premier canine search and rescue program in Western Pennsylvania. AMRG dogs are specially trained in air-scent, trailing/tracking, and cadaver/human remains detection. Search dogs and handlers are integral to the overall mountain rescue team, and AMRG trains these team members to search the most difficult areas with techniques to assist in evacuation. Being a member of the AMRG canine team means being a well rounded search and rescue technician capable of not only working a search dog, but contributing in all aspects of a search and rescue effort.
